Ars Pactum: Lamont D'Reichier

Stoic, pragmatic and formally brusque, Lamont is a no-nonsense type of character. Born as a magician into a noble French household, he conducts himself with most of the grace and etiquette of one of his birthright, but lacking any of the social tact and patience one might expect from him.

A direct product of his parent’s strict upbringing, Lamont has a strong belief of self reliance in attaining ones goals and as a result, he tends to be a lone wolf of sorts, disliking to rely on others for most things, be it physical or emotional support. Work is treated salient over… well, most everything, really, for at the end of the day, knowledge and achievement is what will get you far in life. ...Right?

Lamont's take on pacts are that they are sacred, perhaps intimate, akin to marriage ー a life time partnership between two individuals where each gain mutual benefits. Another example from his parent's; as they are in a par pactum with one another.

He dislikes the idea of temporary pacts because of their frivolity, and loathes the idea of forming pacta with an entity even more. He has a strong sense of self preservation and the idea that entities are nothing more than soul draining parasites of a cruel nature was instilled into him by his parents at a young age.

He possesses a situationally sardonic (snarky, even) streak, something Lamont himself might offhandedly brush off as stemming from his British heritage. Blowing up a situation using dramatic vocabulary, or storming off into a huff muttering French vulgarities under his breath is a thing that happens perhaps a little too often with an officemate like Elain.

Rest assured almost none of it is out of his intention for any sort of comedy. He is a drama queen.

In the face of incompetent persons, Lamont's temper is as volatile as the substance that his magic manipulates. Excessive anger often manifests itself through his powers, accidentally freezing the pen he's holding or turning that cup of coffee into a block of ice.

For this reason, even as a graduate student, he keeps his pin activated during school hours.

Despite his forthright and irritable nature, Lamont is not the type to dislike people without reason (despite the fact that some of the littlest reasons will elicit his distaste for a person), and more than anything, dislikes wasting time as opposed to the person themselves. 
His tendency to want to find the most efficient route to solving problems can be very helpful in a tight crunch, however.

As one not wont to hold extreme grudges for long periods of time (save for. Maybe Elain), any prior vexation toward a person is easily redeemable with a few helpful and kind deeds toward Lamont's person.

This doesn't hold him back firing any needless complaints to anyone he considers unfortunately close enough to him to load his complaints onto, though.

Though he generally despises admitting it, Lamont cares deeply for those he considers friends, and will go to great lengths to assist them if need be.
